| yarp i know stes been shopping and also has news but today i called in the Rock Factory and thanked ricky for fixing that amp. I also bought 6 x 1 metre patch cables - longer than we needed but you can never have cable thats too long can ya? 3 effin quid each robbery! I also asked him about that HUM from the bass head thro the PA, given that i have a ground-lift switch on the amp and its not making any difference (a ground lift switch is there for that very reason). turns out its cos i'm d.i. - ing into the mic socket (xlr) on the mixer and "offering" too much signal (in terms of strength not volume) this is because the signal is AFTER the pre-amp. This is [apparantly] cured by sending the signal into the unbalanced (even though it is) input in the mixer via the 1/4" jack socket instead. This would explain why it isnt causing problems via rons set-up despite the obvious gain diferences in his signal processor output, wherin the mixer clip light is the only clue. It would also explain why me di output knob is set at some insane level like 15% yet the tone to volume ratio is pathetic. (i.e. it sounds sh-it) It explains a lot and so i bought a 10 metre xlr to jack lead. What it dont explain is why i got the same hum when using my own speakers | |

| Well very good jc, mine wasnt so exciting, just went to a shop in rotherham, where i normally buy my bits from (e-bay) had a look for some decent cymbals, i saw a set that was just the job n in my budget, didnt want or need the high hats in the set so they swapped them for an other cymbal n a bag to carry them in, if any one wants good solid advice n a good deal on kits n accesories, e-bay, rockem music, Dont go in with ya credit card though cos ya wont stop buying, they have some amazing kits. I saw a cracking mapex kit with all the whistles n bangs you would ever need £895, have a look, dont just take my word. | |
